During the Visual Revolution Summit, we were excited to have Stacy Minero, Twitter’s Head of Planning, present a keynote on these real-time marketing moments. Today, these moments can make (or break) a brand. Social media makes it possible for people around the world to interact with each other in real-time. This means every moment, whether part of just a typical day or a huge cultural event like the Oscars, is an opportunity to be seen by or directly engage with consumers.

We all saw this in action during the 2014 Oscars, when Ellen shared the selfie seen around the world:

Super Selfie

“This was the most retweeted Tweet of the year,” Stacy said. “What’s interesting about it is that people typically remember who was holding that Samsung phone, even if they don’t know who manufactured the phone, more than they can remember who won best actress this year.”

She then went on to present case studies from brands like Purina and Lowe’s and the following 3 techniques to win the moment on Twitter:

1. Customize & Personalize

2. Create Repeatable Brilliance

3. Use Cards As Your Canvas

Learn more about each of the techniques in her presentation below!
